The Morne Trulah Estate is widely regarded as St Lucia’s best-sited home: perched atop Trouya Pointe, surveying a 330 degree view of the Caribbean Sea and surrounded by seven lush acres of tropical gardens.  The villa sits respectfully within remains of the 18c defensive battlement that once protected Rodney Bay to the North and East and Choc Bay to the South and West.  In its current configuration, the villa accommodates up to 8 people in four suites-- each with its own water views, sitting area, private deck and ensuite bathroom.  On this high peninsula one can look down to two undeveloped beach just 200 meters away.  Morne Trulah offers spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea in every direction and from every room— each being equal to the others.

The owners just completed a two-year renovation and enlargement of the property to maintain its reputation as one of the finest homes in the Caribbean, including:

a)     Complete renovation of the original 4000 square foot structure

b)     Addition of 3000 square feet for an indoor/outdoor kitchen, living and dining wings

c)     Protection and preservation of its ancient walls and floors (including a global search for, and importation from Britain of 500-year old, handmade, Tudor bricks and Welsh slate to match and extend the original flooring;

d)     Acquisition of four additional parcels of land, expanding the original three acres to become seven acres of complete, hilltop privacy;

e)     Erection of a robust, 10’ high perimeter security fence including an electronic entry gate, and

f)      Addition of over 1250 tons of top soil and hundreds of new trees and tropical plants to transform the estate into a horticultural paradise.

As you enter the residence from the South, a twenty-foot high cathedral ceiling lifts your spirits.  The soaring rooflines frame water views to the North, South, East and West.  Beneath your feet, 500-year old, Tudor bricks and Yorkshire slate extend from the entrance northward through to the covered lanai which overlooks an infinity pool and Rodney Bay. To the East, unspoiled Trouya Beach is framed between carefully manicured zoysia grass, bougainvillea and palm trees.  Westward, sunsets beckon over the wide expanse of Caribbean. To the South, cruise ships glide in and out of Castries harbor. To the North, the living area flows seamlessly into an outdoor covered lounge area framed by breathtaking views of Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island. A cozy nook inside the main living area features a 60-inch Sony Bravia television, Yamaha surround sound, Apple TV, high speed WiFi and a piano.

If you choose to cook, this kitchen is a chef’s dream.  In addition to 180 degree views over the Caribbean, the kitchen boasts a full assortment of commercial appliances and cookware imported from England.

Just off the kitchen, is the dining area, also featuring 180 degree water views framed by the soaring cathedral ceiling.  Some compare the feel of the room to being in a giant tree house overlooking the azure sea.  If you prefer, your private chef will be happy to serve you on the West Deck (with view spanning from Castries to Pigeon Island) the Pool Deck (featuring 270 degree Caribbean views) or lay a picnic for you on the croquet lawn.

Every Morne Trulah guest debates which bedroom has the best views.  All feature window walls in two directions, canopied king-sized beds, air conditioning, private decks, and ensuite bathroom with double vanities and rain showers.

The Northeast Suite features a private, wraparound deck that overlooks Trouya Cove to the East and Rodney Bay to the North. From your outdoor soaking tub, enjoy the spectacular views Pigeon Island and Martinique in the distance.  From your King-sized canopy bed at night, enjoy the twinkling ring of lights that form the perimeter of Rodney Bay.

The Northwest Suite enjoys spectacular views – over the orchid garden toward Rodney Bay to the North and over the Caribbean to the West.  Surrounding the wrap-around deck is Morne Trulah’s own white sand “beach”, lined with four palm trees – another great spot to relax or for kids to play.

The Southeast Suite features an Eastward-facing private deck overlooking the two unspoiled mountains as well as Trouya Beach below.

From the Southwest Suite enjoy gorgeous sunsets over the Caribbean each evening from the sitting area on your deck, inside sitting area or from the comfort of your king-sized plantation bed.  In the morning, watch the cruise ships approach the island and glide into the harbour at Castries.

Morne Trulah’s 55-foot infinity, saltwater pool (nine feet deep) boasts the island’s only beach entry pool at a private residence. The pool deck features 270 degree views over Rodney Bay and can accommodate dining for up to 24 people.

From the pool deck you can survey the seven acres that comprise one of the Caribbean’s finest tropical gardens. Cultivated over a fifty-year period, the gardens host hundreds of orchids, exotic trees and other flora unique to the island.  The recent addition of three more acres (bringing the total seven acres of grounds) ensures that Morne Trulah is one of the island’s most private enclaves.

A private, half-kilometer nature trail circumnavigates Morne Trulah.  Beginning on the west side of the property, one enjoys perfect serenity walking along the top of a seaside cliff. The path emerges at the north end of the property, where one enjoys uninterrupted views of Martinique and Pigeon Island while strolling amongst the coconut palms and bogenvilla.  Around the east side of the property gentle waves crash into Trouya Beach as one winds around to the Morne Trulah vegetable and herb garden. 

As a Morne Trulah guest you are free to pick whatever vegetables, fruits and herbs you like.  Or tell one of the gardeners what you would like and they will pick it for you.  Depending upon the season, enjoy fresh mangoes, pineapples, bananas, watermelon, pumpkin, tomatoes, grapefruit, and many other vegetables and fruits.  If you like to cook, help yourself to the fresh tyme, basil and the many other herbs growing.

Morne Trulah boasts the island’s only croquet lawn.  Created and maintained by the head greenskeeper for the St Lucia Golf Club, the green features a 21 metre-long expanse with idyllic, 180 degree views over Rodney Bay toward Pigeon Island and Martinique.  The green can also be used for lawn tennis or bowling as well as for large, private events.

Housekeeping staff – 2 housekeepers who alternate and provide housekeeping service for 6 days a week. -8.30am to 3.00pm.  The housekeeper is available to cook breakfast and lunch as required.

Private Chef – to prepare and serve the evening meal. A private chef is included in the cost of the rental and can serve dinners as required, included for 3 nights per week in the high season and 1 night per week in the low season. Menus can be arranged in advance and the appropriate fresh foods obtained from local markets by the chef.  The cost of food (with a 15% service charge) is chargeable to the guests.

Three full time gardeners.  One handyman (Nicky) resides in the staff quarters.  A 10 foot high shadow wall fence runs the entire circumference of the property and is complete with an remote controlled gate.  

US$1,500 damage deposit required to be retained by agent until the management company in St. Lucia advises that the rental has been completed successfully without any damage or breakages on property.

This property is a non smoking property.  External areas ONLY may be utilised for the smoking of cigarettes / cigars.  Also if any illegal substances are located or found on the property the result will be immediate eviction and charges may be levied against you.

Please note check in is at 3 pm and check out is at 12 noon.  Late check outs can be granted upon request, subject to availability, and after paying an applicable fee.

All damages and/ or missing items are accountable under the damages contract signed directly with Tropical Villas St. Lucia or with your Tour Operator or Travel Agent.  All charges are to be settled prior to departure.

International calls cannot be made from the telephones at the villas, unless a cash deposit or credit card pre-authourisation is made and then these lines can be  opened.  Once this is done, guests are then liable for all international calls made from the telephone line.  This also includes international toll free numbers dialled outside of the country as these DO incur charges locally.

No pets are allowed on the property.

All bookings are subject to a 25% non refundable deposit required to confirm a reservation and the balance is due 45 days prior to arrival.  For Christmas / New Years bookings, a 10% supplement is applied to regular high season rate and a 50% Non refundable deposit is required and the balance is due 60 days prior to arrival.  We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover you in the eventuality of a cancellation.

Please note that villas are for the exclusive use of resident guests only.  Any extra guests must be pre-advised and pre-arranged through Tropical Villas Management.
